The literal meanings of child neglect and child abuse are so alike that I’m having trouble telling them apart. Nevertheless, I must use one of them in my evaluation report. Can you please assist me?

Due to COVID-19, numerous families living across the border have been separated for an extended period. I plan to conduct interviews with some family members in Mainland China. Would it be appropriate to use purposive sampling as a data collection method?
