The results of an independent t-test on the average life satisfaction scores of senior men and women indicate a p-value greater than 0.05. Can we infer that there is no variation between the two groups?

he pandemic has had a significant impact on many older adults, particularly those living alone. To avoid becoming infected, they may stay at home and experience hunger or malnutrition. Our center is exploring the option of providing door-to-door food delivery services to elderly individuals who live alone, decreasing their exposure to the virus. Based on my observations, I’ve noticed that high availability of barrier-free facilities corresponds to high elder mobility, and low availability of barrier-free facilities corresponds to low elder mobility. Due to the increasing elderly population, there is a heightened focus on barrier-free facilities. If I plan to explore the connection between the availability of such facilities and elder mobility, should I make elder mobility an independent or dependent variable?
